JOY WITH THE PAPERBOY

As I have these various and continuous missionary experiences over the years, I often call my mother to tell her about it.  She follows my stories with joy.  She often asks me in the middle of a conversation if I’ve “…given out any Articles of Faith cards lately…”  The answer is usually “Yes!”

Today, however, as I called her from the freeway after being invited to speak at the conference in April, she told me this story.

“Guess what I did today?”

“What’s that, Mom?”

“I put a $20 bill in an envelope for our paperboy.”

“That’s great, Mom!  That’s a nice tip!”

“…AND…” she continued, “…I also included an Articles of Faith card for him.”

I was thrilled.  She was so excited to tell me about the good news.  She’s heard so many of my experiences over the years that I’m sure it meant a lot to her to be able to flip the tables and tell me about something she had done.

Her paperboy is a Hispanic man from Payson, Utah.  She believes he is not a member of the Church.  I amproud of her.  This was a big move for her to do that.  I think she’s heard so many of my stories she decided to try something on her own.

Putting the card alongside a $20 tip was a great idea.  She did something nice for him (the tip) then gave him something else that could also be of help to him.  That’s a great combination.

Email me at howgreatshallbemyjoy@gmail.com with any of your success stories.  They may be included in an upcoming book.
