JOY WITH THE MISSIONARIES

I received a text from our local full-time missionaries yesterday.  They needed someone to visit a family with them last night.

The family is from India.  They joined the Church about one year ago.

Watching the full-time missionaries teach people the gospel is very interesting.  They ask a lot of commitment-type questions.  They use their tablets to show videos at the drop of a hat.  I had to load a filmstrip into a projector to bring media into one of my presentations.

Everybody who joins the Church needs more friends.  Because of that, there is a great opportunity for members of the Church to provide that friendship.

Joy With the Missionaries–What You Should Do

I did what a member of the Church should do when they accompany the full-time missionaries on an appointment: I kept quiet and let those with the missionary callings do their thing.  Then, at the very end, I mentioned a few ideas to the family.

I remember teaching as a full-time missionary myself and wishing the members who were accompanying me would not get us off-track!  Now that the shoe is on the other foot, my job is to let them do what I used to do.  I appreciate the opportunity to assist the full-time missionaries in teaching the gospel.  This experience does not happen that often.  When it does come up, I enjoy going with them.

When you think about how much work these wonderful sisters do each day, just trying to find someone to teach, it is quite humbling.  They work hard.  They have extra time to teach more people.  It would be great if we could help them find more people to teach.

Make yourself available to accompany the full-time missionaries to visit people they’re teaching in your area.  It is a good experience.  You will also feel the Spirit while you are there.
