JOY AT MCDONALD’S

While doing a hauling job in Bethesda, my buddy and I stopped at McDonald’s for lunch.  I was third in line.

There’s More To It Than Lunch

I happened to turn to my right and saw the white van in the parking lot pictured here:

McDonald's is a great place to meet people.

An awesome van in the parking lot provides an opportunity.

The thing that caught my eye was the license plate hanging in the window.  I loved it.  I looked around McDonald’s (I was now #2 in line) and saw a man standing a few cash registers away from me wearing a MPM Plumbing baseball cap.  That’s when I had the impression to pull out an Articles of Faith card.  It has Jesus’ picture on it.  I wanted to see if he would like one.

I didn’t want to miss out on my place in line.  Nor did I want to make a scene at a public place.  So I just kept my eye on him as I proceeded to order my lunch.  He was still waiting for his order to be given to him, as he stood there holding the receipt in his hand.

I went over to him, holding my empty cup, and asked if that was his van out in the parking lot.  He said it was.  I told him how cool I thought it was that he put the license plate in his window.

An Articles of Faith Card Opportunity at McDonald’s

I told him he might like a copy of the card, telling him that on the back are the beliefs of the Mormons.  He gladly accepted the card.  Then he told me that the license plate was given to him by his daughter on his 50th birthday.  Finally, he said he couldn’t think of a better place to put the license plate than in the back of his van where it was visible to others.

I enjoy seeing other people active as missionaries in their own right.  I salute them.

This story shows that it’s possible to be a missionary even while you’re standing in line at McDonald’s.  That’s how good the Lord is.

Finally, we parted ways as new friends.  Do you need a good plumber?  You may want to call this guy.  He strikes me as a wonderful man.
