JOY IN THE GARAGE…
The Clue…
She mentioned it early on in the conversation, as I was there to help her clean out her garage. I think it came after I asked her how her weekend was.
“God was good,” she said. “Church yesterday was outstanding,” (or something like that.)
Someone who openly talks about God is sensitive to the Spirit. Make a note of it when you hear it: they would probably welcome anything you can give them about religion, especially if what you give them is true!
The Job…
I was there to clean out her garage. She had lots of boxes and a few cabinets in her basement. I made two trips, finishing up in the garage.
When it came time to pay me, she asked what forms of payment we take.
“Cash, check, credit card, Venmo, Paypal–any of those,” I replied. With that she pulled out her credit card and handed it to me. I went to write down some of the information so I could run the card later when she spoke up.
“Actually,” she began, “…I think I have it in cash.” The amount was $175. She reached in to her purse and pulled out a $100 bill, a $50 bill, a $20 bill and a $5 bill.
“Look at you,” I said somewhat amazed,”…you’ve got it all right there! I’m impressed,” I finished.
“It’s all because of God,” she replied calmly.
The Prompting…
Well, that was it. I felt the prompting and went to my truck, telling her I had something to give her because God was so close to her heart.
So I grabbed a couple of my public affairs cards and two Articles of Faith cards. I handed them to her and she took them with ease.
She then told me she had something for me too, and she reached into her purse but couldn’t find the card with her church information on it. I told her not to worry about it but to just send it to me by phone. She said she would, and she did! About a half hour later she sent me these:
She also gave me some dates when she would be there. I intend to go and make some new friends!
